Say hello to one of the easiest bakes that you can possibly make this Christmas season…  my Nutella Christmas Tree! It’s only four ingredients, and it’s always a showstopper on the festive table. <\/p>\n

Nutella Bakes<\/h3>\n

So in a bit of a shocker, this is my first new Nutella bake in over two years! I couldn’t quite believe it when I realised, because I just adore Nutella?! Honestly – how has it been two years?!<\/p>\n

Christmas seemed the ideal time to bring back the chocolate hazelnut spread goodness though and I am utterly in love. I love to stuff Nutella into whatever I can including my Nutella stuffed cookies<\/a>, Nutella ice cream<\/a>, or even my Nutella rocky road<\/a>. <\/p>\n

I find in the colder weather eating something utterly covered in a gooey chocolate spread does make everything better, so here you go. <\/p>\n

Christmas Tree<\/h3>\n

So, as you can see, we went for the Christmas tree shape. I say it’s Christmas tree shaped, it’s as close to a tree shape as I could manage and I am actually quite happy with it! <\/p>\n

I found that making the shape was far easier using two pieces of pastry, and it also provided more servings of the delicious Nutella Christmas tree, so it’s all good in my books. <\/p>\n

You have to be quite confident with the pastry – and don’t do what I did, and make the perfect tree, and then have to move it to your baking tray. Shape the pastry ON THE TRAY!!! <\/p>\n

Pastry<\/h3>\n

I used shop-bought pastry because I really don’t want to bother making it myself. Yes I know, some people simply hate me for using shop-bought ingredients, and I have no idea why. If the ingredient exists, it’s there to be used. <\/p>\n

The puff pastry creates a wonderful texture to the Nutella Christmas tree, which you wouldn’t get from other types of pastry. I think shortcrust would be too crumbly and dry, compared to the light buttery texture of puff. <\/p>\n

Shaping the pastry is surprisingly easy though it looks fancy. You just need to stick to a triangle shape for the tree, cut down firmly on the trunks of the tree, and twist. <\/p>\n

It’s important to not cut through the middle stalk of the tree though as you need something stable for the pastry to stick to. <\/p>\n

Filling<\/h3>\n

So, as you are fully aware by now, the filling is Nutella. I melt the Nutella slightly before using it to make sure it’s easier to move and spread about tearing the pastry. I do this in the microwave, but in a pan on low heat also works well. <\/p>\n

If you don’t want to use Nutella though, you can use so many other flavours, or even combinations! Biscoff, peanut butter, jam, whatever you want that is spreadable! I’ve made this before and swap the trunks of the tree between Nutella and Biscoff, and it’s been wonderful. <\/p>\n

Tips & Ideas<\/h3>\n

You can make other shapes, such as a snowflake. Follow the same idea, but instead of making triangles of pastry, you can make circles, and cut in the same way. Leave a small circle in the middle to keep it all attached, and twist. <\/p>\n

I use shop-bought pastry as I have said – you can buy the sheets, or buy the block and roll them out. <\/p>\n
